HC Deb 09 August 1898 vol 64 cc638-9
MR. DILLON

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been called to the fact that a vacancy has been created in the head-mastership of the Model School, Cork; and whether, in view of the inquiry into the system of model schools now in progress, he will communicate with the National Education Board, pointing out the inadvisability of creating new vested interests by further appointments before the Committee have come to some conclusion on the subject?

MR. ATKINSON (for Mr. GERALD BALFOUR)

I have communicated this Question to the Commissioners of National Education, who state that a vacancy will be created in the head-mastership of the Cork Model School on 7th, September, and that it would be inadvisable to fail to provide for the education of the pupils of that school by delaying unduly the appointment of a head-master.
