HC Deb 08 August 1898 vol 64 cc499-500
MR. MASSEY-MAINWARING

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the Tower of London will shortly be opened to the public on Sundays: and, if not, what are the objections of those responsible for its safety to its being so opened?

MR. JOHNSTON

May I ask the right honourable Gentleman whether he is not aware that there is a large amount of public opinion in this country that objects to the assimilation of the English to the Continental Sunday?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

I am not at present in a position to make any statement at all with regard to this Question.
