HC Deb 03 August 1898 vol 15 c1188
MR. GILHOOLY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the line of railway from Skibbereen to Baltimore was constructed at a cost of £57,000; whether the chief object in constructing the said line was to develop the fishing industry; whether this line of railway is practically useless for that purpose unless a pier is built to connect it with the deep water; and whether, in view of the fact that the Baltimore and Skibbereen Harbour Board have guaranteed if the pier be built to maintain it, he will advise the Congested Districts Board to give a grant for its construction?

MR. J. MORLEY

The Congested Districts Board have had under consideration a proposal for the construction of a pier at Baltimore, but have not yet arrived at a decision in the matter.
