HC Deb 02 August 1898 vol 63 c847
MR. J. REDMOND (Waterford)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether he is yet in a position to say will tenders be invited from Irish bicycle manufacturers for the supply of the Post Office, and, if not, will he explain on what grounds?

MR. HANBURY

It is not at present proposed to call for any further tenders for Post Office bicycles. I informed the honourable Member on the 26th ultimo that a note would be taken of the name of the Irish firm which had been mentioned by him, and that the question of inviting the firm to tender on the next occasion will be carefully considered. This, of course, will apply to any other well-known Irish bicycle manufacturers who may send in their names.
