§ MR. PICKERSGILLI beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he has any objection to present to Parliament such of the official Minutes of the late Sir Henry Maine respecting the relations between the British Government and the Indian feudatory States as can now be published without detriment to the public service?
§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Lord GEORGE HAMILTON,) Middlesex, EalingA selection of the Minutes of Sir Henry Maine on the subjects referred to in the honourable Member's Question were reproduced in the "Life and Speeches of Sir Henry Maine," published by Mr. John Murray in 1892. Those Minutes which, on account of their comparative unimportance, or of their confidential nature, were omitted from that collection should not, in my opinion, be published.
