DALY (Monaghan, S.)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that 13 shipwrecks have taken place during recent years at Black Head, Belfast Lough, and can he state the number of lives lost; and whether he will consider the advisability of erecting a lighthouse on Black Head to prevent loss of life and property in the future?

RITCHIE,) CroydonI am informed that 16 vessels have been stranded during the last 10 years in the neighbourhood of Blackhead, Belfast Lough, but that no lives have been lost through these casualties. As I stated yesterday, the Commissioners of Irish Lights have not made any proposal for the erection of a lighthouse at that place, but I understand that the matter is now being reconsidered by them.
