§ MR. WEIRI beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether the Congested Districts Board for Scotland has received a copy of the resolutions carried at a meeting of the crofters of the townships of Shader, Sheshader, Aird, and Portnaguran, in the Island of Lewes, on the 15th instant, urging that there is ample land contiguous to those townships, not suitable for grazing, but which, if cultivated, would afford sustenance for the numerous cottars and squatters in these districts; and whether, with a view to relieve the present congestion, the Board proposes to make efforts to acquire the lands indicated?
MR. GRAHAM MURRAYI am informed by the Congested Districts Board that a copy of the resolutions referred to by the honourable Member was transmitted to the Secretary of the Board in a letter received by him on Saturday, the 23rd instant, but it has been impossible in the brief period which has elapsed since that date for the Board to consider and deal with the same.
