§ MR. PICKERSGILLI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will lay upon the Table a copy of the schedule of fines which warders and other prison officers are liable to incur; what was the number of such officers who were fined; and what was the total amount of the fines imposed during the year ended 31st March, 1897; and will the Commissioners furnish similar information in their future annual Reports?
§ MR. JESSE COLLINGSI can see no sufficient reason for laying the approved scale of fines upon the Table. The amount of fines imposed during the year was £55 8s. 9d.; the number of officers fined could only be ascertained by sending a circular to the prisons, and that hardly appears worth while.
