§ CAPTAIN DONELANI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will consider the desirability of inserting a provision in the Local Government (Ireland) Bill granting Urban District Councils compulsory powers to acquire land for the purpose of public parks or recreation grounds?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURUrban District Councils have power to acquire lands by agreement, under the Open Spaces Act, 1890, for the purposes of Public Parks. I doubt the desirability of giving compulsory powers to these Councils for that purpose, but the matter is one which can be considered in Committee.
