RICHARDS (Finsbury, E)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if his attention has been directed to the fact that the London County Council are about to construct a new sewer in High Holborn from Cray's Inn Road to Southampton Row, and that for this purpose it will be necessary to divert the traffic of this main artery of the Metropolis for a period of eight months; and whether he will surest to the London County Council that the work should be postponed until the autumn?
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARDThe Local Government Board have no jurisdiction with regard to the public traffic, and, under these circumstances, it is not part of my duty, nor indeed do I think it would be my business, to make any representations on the subject to the County Council.
