HC Deb 05 April 1898 vol 56 cc192-3
COLONEL WELBY (Taunton)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether, at this year's autumn manœuvres, the larger units will be organised, commanded, and provided with staffs as they would be if the same force were mobilised for defence; or whether brigades and divisions will be collections of generals, staffs, and regiments, as on former occasions, formed without reference to the plan of mobilisation laid down in the regulations?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. W. ST. JOHN BRODRICK,) Surrey, Guildford

The arrangements for the manœuvres for the present year, which are now in progress, are, as far as possible, in accordance with the mobilisation which would be necessary for defence.
