HC Deb 04 April 1898 vol 56 cc34-5
MR. J. HERBERT ROBERTS

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention, has been drawn to the delay which has taken place in announcing his decision in reference to the question of the representation of the Colwyn Bay Urban District Council upon the Conway and Colwyn Bay Joint Water Supply Board; and whether, in view of the fact that a Local Government Board inquiry was held upon this point in December last, and that a speedy decision will be of importance to the Council referred to, he will give his reply without further delay?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. H. CHAPLIN,) Lincolnshire, Sleaford

The Local Government Board arrived at their decision in this matter some time since, but to give effect to it a Provisional Order is necessary. A Provisional Order has been prepared, and drafts will shortly be sent to the authorities interested. With regard to the statement that a speedy decision would be of importance to the Colwyn Bay District Council, the hon. Member is, no doubt, aware that the Provisional Order must be confirmed by Parliament before it can come into operation.
