HC Deb 31 May 1897 vol 49 c1618
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate, as representing the Secretary for Scotland, if he will state for what period a parish councillor must have resigned his seat before it is competent for him to make an application for an appointment under the parish council; and if no period is fixed, will he consider the advisability of fixing a short limit of time?

*THE LORD ADVOCATE

There is no statutory provision fixing a time within which it shall be incompetent for a Parish Councillor after resigning his seat to apply for an appointment under the Parish Council; and it has not been brought to my notice that any disadvantage has been experienced under the present arrangement.
