HC Deb 31 May 1897 vol 49 c1624
MAJOR RASCH (Essex, S.E.)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he is able to state if the Great Eastern and London, Tilbury and South-end Railway Companies are prepared to remove the increases of 12 to 45 per cent, upon manures, which form the subject of a complaint which has been pending before the Board of Trade since 19th May 1896?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. C. T. RITCHIE,) Croydon

At the instance of the Board of Trade the Companies will revert to the old rates; the Department has also represented to the Companies the desirability of removing the increase as from the 1st January 1893, and anticipate that this will be done.
