HC Deb 28 May 1897 vol 49 c1510
MR. D. NICOL (Argyll)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether the petitions from the lighthouse keepers of the United Kingdom for an increase of pay and for prospective pensions in their service have now been considered by him, and if he can state what decision he has arrived at?

MR. RITCHIE

The Board of Trade are now engaged in considering the recommendations of the lighthouse authorities with regard to the position of the lighthouse keepers in their service, but having regard to the varying circumstances in each case, it must be some time before a decision can be arrived at.
