HC Deb 27 May 1897 vol 49 cc1421-2
SIR SEYMOUR KING

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India, whether he would call upon the Government of India to make a Report as to the effectiveness of the steps taken by the Indian Government in 1894 to prevent the supersession of officers of the Indian Staff Corps by those in the line by granting temporary rank to commandants and seconds in command in native regiments?

*THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR INDIA (Lord GEORGE HAMILTON,) Middlesex, Ealing

The question of the supersession of officers of the Indian Staff Corps by those in the line is now under my consideration in connection with a letter recently received from the Government of India.
