HC Deb 25 May 1897 vol 49 c1271
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, in view of the fact that the Post Office describes the Island of Lewis as only half an island, and that in the Reports issued by the Secretary for Scotland and other Government departments it is described as the Island of Lewis, will he state whether the Government contemplates altering the designation of the island?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

No, Sir; the Government do not contemplate altering the designation of the Island of Lewis.
