HC Deb 25 May 1897 vol 49 c1258
CAPTAIN GRICE-HUTCHINSON (Aston Manor)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether the regulations as to refunding deferred pay on rejoining the colours are to be relaxed in the case of men of the Army Reserve who may enlist in the new battalions of the Brigade of Guards; and, if so, whether he will consider the advisability of granting the same privilege to Reserve men who may be desirous of rejoining other branches of the service?

MR. BRODRICK

The men of the Guards who are invited to rejoin the colours are those who were, discharged at the end of their three years' engagement with the colours. Such men did not receive deferred pay and are therefore in a different position from other Reservists.
