HC Deb 21 May 1897 vol 49 c1034
MAJOR JAMESON (Clare, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland is it the intention of the Government to fill the vacancy in the judicial staff of the Court of Bankruptcy in Ireland, occasioned by the death of the late Judge Miller; and, if not, what provision exists for the discharge of the business of the Court in the event of the unavoidable absence owing to illness or otherwise of the existing Judge?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The whole matter is under the consideration of the Government, and some definite decision will, I hope, soon be arrived at. The contingency mentioned in the last sentence has not arisen.
