HC Deb 20 May 1897 vol 49 c928
MR. FAITHFUL BEGG (Glasgow, St. Rollox)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury as representing the Postmaster General if he can now state the exact form of inquiry which will be held in Glasgow in connection with the request of the Corporation for a telephone licence, and their complaint regarding inefficient service against the National Telephone Company; and when the inquiry will be held?

MR. HANBURY

As the Glasgow Corporation now appear to think an inquiry unnecessary, it is, of course, also unnecessary to state more than I have already stated a few days ago, namely, that the Government were willing to agree to a public independent, inquiry into the complaints made by the Corporation.
