HC Deb 18 May 1897 vol 49 c722
SIR WALTER FOSTER (Derby, Ilkeston)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if he can state the number of cases in which a rural sanitary authority has made application to adopt Part III. of the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1890; and, in how many instances Part III. has been adopted and carried into effect in rural districts?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. HENRY CHAPLIN,) Lincolnshire, Sleaford

Applications for the certificate of the County Council authorising the adoption of Part III. of the Housing of the Working Classes Act: 1890, are not reported to the Local Government Board, and I am therefore unable to state the number of such cases. There has only been one case in which a loan has been sanctioned by the Board on the application of a Rural District Council for the purchase of land and the erection of working class dwellings under the authority of Part III. of the Act.
