HC Deb 17 May 1897 vol 49 cc615-6
MR. HARRY SAMUEL (Tower Hamlets, Limehouse)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether the Royal Commission on the Water Supply of London has yet commenced its inquiry; if not, whether he can state what are the reasons for the delay, and when it is expected the inquiry will begin?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. HENRY CHAPLIN,) Lincolnshire, Sleaford

The Royal warrant appointing the Commissioners was received on May 6, but little more than a week ago. The question as to the provision of accommodation for the Commission has not yet been settled, but when the preliminary arrangements are made a meeting of the Committee will be held on an early day.

MR. T. LOUGH (Islington, W.)

asked whether the right hon. Gentleman could give any information as to the details of the Bill for the benefit of the London consumers.

*MR. SPEAKER

Order, order!
