§ SIR JOHN BRUNNERI beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board how many local authorities have adopted the Notification of Infectious Diseases Act, and what, proportion that number is of the whole number empowered to adopt it?
§ MR. CHAPLINExcluding London, where the notification of infectious disease is compulsory under the Public Health (London) Act 1891, the Local Government Board have, up to May 11th, 1897, received information of the adoption of the Infectious Diseases (Notification) Act 1889, in 654 rural districts out of a total of 671 rural districts, and in 904 urban districts out of 1,088 urban districts. But in 49 of the 184 urban districts where the Act of 1889 has not been adopted the notification of infectious disease is compulsory under provisions in local Acts.
