HC Deb 13 May 1897 vol 49 c388
MR. CLANCY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been directed to the condition of Balbriggan Harbour, which is such that if the harbour is not soon dredged it will become useless; and if so, whether he will use his influence with the Treasury in favour of a grant being made for the purpose of clearing it out?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

My attention does not appear to have been previously directed to the condition of Balbriggan Harbour, which, I am informed, is under the control of the Dublin Port and Docks Board. I could not, under the circumstances, recommend the Treasury to give a grant for the purpose of dredging the harbour.
