HC Deb 10 May 1897 vol 49 c93
MR. CAREW

On behalf of the hon. Member for Dublin, St. Patrick, I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he intends at an early date to introduce the promised Measure to amend the existing system of Private Bill legislation for Ireland?

MR. J. J. CLANCY (Dublin Co., N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has yet come to any decision in reference to the introduction of a Measure to reform the system of Private Bill legislation so far as concerns Ireland?

THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. GERALD BALFOUR,) Leeds, Central

I can only say that the prospect of the Bill for amending the system of Private Bill legislation for Ireland being introduced during the present Session must depend on the progress of public business generally.
