HC Deb 07 May 1897 vol 49 c17
MR. T. M. HEALY

asked the Chief Secretary whether, after what took place the previous evening, he would attempt to proceed on Monday with the Poor Law Relief (Ireland) Bill, or whether he would hold it over for further consideration?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I do not see why it should not be proceeded with in consequence of what happened last night. I hope it will be reached in sufficient time to allow of ample discussion.

MR. J. P. FARRELL

Will the right hon. Gentleman give proper facilities for its discussion?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I understand that the principle of the Bill is generally accepted.

MR. T. M. HEALY

It raises the whole question of rating and control.
