HC Deb 29 March 1897 vol 47 c1569
CAPTAIN NORTON

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, as regards the alleged loss to the members of the Metropolitan Police Force, by the manner in which the change of system for the supply of their boots is to be brought about, seeing that the matter in dispute is entirely one of figures and facts, he will consent to place the case before an independent chartered accountant and abide by his decision?

SIR MATTHEW WHITE RIDLEY

No, Sir; I am afraid I cannot assent to any such proposal.
