HC Deb 25 March 1897 vol 47 c1323
MR. MACNEILL

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, notwithstanding the most urgent representations of Sir Philip Currie, and the dispatch of a British war vessel, the officials at Payos, in the Adana district, have not been changed; and whether the wife of the Governor who presided over the recent massacres has received a decoration from the Sultan?

MR. CURZON

The Vali of Adana has been dismissed from his post. We have heard nothing about the wife of the Governor. [Laughter.]
