§ MR. EDMUND ROBERTSON (Dundee)asked the First Lord of the Treasury whether a rumour which had reached him 1328 was true, that the Government intended to take Tuesday next for the continuation of the Debate on the Financial Relations question?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURYOf course, I have no evidence that the Financial Relations Debate will last over Monday night. [Nationalist cries of "Oh."] But some weeks ago a Question was put to me by hon. Gentlemen opposite who are interested in the Debate, asking me whether, when I appointed a date for the Debate, I meant to restrict it to one day. I answered that I had no such intention, and, if therefore, hon. Gentlemen wish that the Debate should extend over one day, I, of course, will not attempt to put any obstacle in the way. If it should not conclude on Monday I will have no choice but to ask the House to permit the Debate to continue on Tuesday.
