§ MR. JOHN AIRD (Paddington, N.)I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works if, while arrangements are being made for an additional smoking room, Members may be allowed, after Nine o'clock, to smoke in the South Dining Room, this being immediately adjacent?
§ THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. AKERS-DOUGLAS,) Kent, St, Augustine'sI am informed that the Kitchen Committee have decided to adopt the suggestion of my hon. Friend, so far as to permit smoking in the South Dining Room after 9.15 p.m.; but they hope that, at periods of abnormal pressure, hon. and right hon. Gentlemen will not make use of the privilege to the obvious discomfort of non-smokers compelled to dine late.
