§ MR. HARRINGTONI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (1) whether he has received from the Dublin Trades Council, representing a membership of 15,000, a resolution requesting the Government to take immediate steps to assimilate the different Poor Law and Municipal franchises in Ireland to the Parliamentary franchise; and (2) whether it is the intention of the Government to introduce legislation on the subject at an early date?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURThe reply to the first paragraph is in the affirmative. As I have already intimated, it is not in contemplation to introduce legislation this Session dealing with the Municipal and Poor Law franchise.
