§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTYThe total number of ships and vessels of all kinds now being constructed in Her Majesty's dockyards and in private yards in the United Kingdom are:—England, dockyards, 27, private yards, 59—total, 86; Scotland, private yards, 21; Ireland, none, but one ship, the Black Prince, is now being converted into a training ship at a private yard at Queenstown. The hon. Member must be aware that the work assigned to private shipbuilding yards is determined entirely by the result of tenders, submitted by firms of known capacity in all parts of the United Kingdom.
