I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty what number of men are employed in the Naval Estabments who receive less than 20s. a week?

The number of men in Naval Establishments whose pay is less than 20s. a week is 4,231.

MR. KEARLEY

Do I understand the hon. Gentleman to say that some of these men have pensions?

MR. MACARTNEY

Yes.

Do the Government take the pensions into consideration when fixing the pay?

Mr. MACARTNEY

was understood to reply in the negative.

Could a return be given showing in what places these men are employed at the present time? Of course the hon. Gentleman will see there is a reason for establishing a distinction between certain places?
