FIELDI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he has made inquiries as to the action of other Governments respecting the prohibition by law of gambling in futures, especially in grain; whether such inquiry will be continuous, and whether the Government intend to consider this subject, and introduce legislation to safeguard the producer and consumer?
§ MR. RITCHIEThe replies are not yet complete, but the action of Foreign Governments in connection with this matter will continue to be carefully watched. Tier Majesty's Government have no intention at present of introducing legislation on the subject.
