HC Deb 26 July 1897 vol 51 c1084
MR. P. J. POWER (Waterford, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury if he would state how much of the Railway Vote, under the Act of 1853, has not been appropriated?

MR. HANBURY

No part of the £40,000 a year provided under the Tramways and Public Companies Act 1883, remains available for the purposes of that Act. Section 6 of the Light of 1883, but not appropriated for the purposes of that Act, should be applicable to the purposes of the Act of 1889,in addition to the further funds provided by that Act. The whole sum available for the purposes of the Act of 1889, including the additional sum provided by the Light Railways Act 1893, has been exhausted, except about £5,000, against which there are certain claims still outstanding.
