§ MR. ARNOLD-FORSTERI beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether he will furnish a return giving particulars of the batteries and battalions present at Aldershot on 1st July, showing the number of all ranks present in each battery and battalion, the present establishment, and the number of men and horses which under existing regulations will be left behind in the event of the battery or battalion being dispatched on active service, and the number which will be required to raise each unit to war strength?
§ MR. BRODRICKThe Secretary of State is averse to giving figures which might lead to misconception, and the statistics of a particular day would be no guide to the general condition of batteries or battalions at other periods of the year. Any comparative figures to be of value would have to be taken at various periods of the year.
