JEFFREYS (Hants, Basingstoke)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War whether any compensation will be given to the troops engaged in the Autumn Manœuvres at Aldershot on account of the loss and damage they sustained from injury to their clothing by the excessive and continuous rain during those manœuvres?
§ THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. BRODRICK,) Surrey, GuildfordIn consideration of the unusually bad weather prevailing during the late manœuvres at Aldershot, and the consequent damage to clothing, it has been decided to authorise a grant of 4d. to each soldier for each day that he was engaged on manœuvres. This grant is in accordance with allowances previously given under similar circumstances.
