§ MR. MASSEY-MAIN WARING (Finsbury, Central)I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works whether, considering that the Prince Consort was the originator of the South Kensington Museum, 175 and that the front of the building has never been completed, although numerous plans have been prepared, he will endeavour to induce the Treasury to provide the necessary funds by a supplementary Estimate to complete the front in commemoration of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee?
§ THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. AKERS-DOUGLAS,) Kent, St. Augustine'sThis question was carefully considered by the Treasury within the last few weeks in connection with the Estimates for 1807–08, when it was decided that the necessary funds could not be found. I do not think that under these circumstances it is of any use my applying to them to do so by means of a supplementary Estimate.
