HC Deb 08 February 1897 vol 45 c1539
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate whether the Atlantic seaboard of the Island of Lewis is included in the North Sea Convention?

THE LORD ADVOCATE

No, Sir.

CAPTAIN SINCLAIR (Forfar)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland, whether Her Majesty's Government have taken any steps to ascertain the views of the Foreign Powers, who are signatories of the North Sea Convention, in regard to an agreement as to the extension of the trawling limit upon the east coast of Scotland?

THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS, (Mr. G. CURZOS,) Lancashire, Southport

The matter referred to is engaging the earnest attention of Her Majesty's Government; but until a decision has been arrived at on the whole question, which involves points of great difficulty, no case arises for addressing a communication to any Foreign Government.
