HC Deb 05 February 1897 vol 45 c1422
MR. PATRICK M'HUGH

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (1) if he is aware that Mr. Wilton Waugh, a grand juror of the county of Leitrim, is interested in road contracts in that county; and (2) is it in accordance with the law that a grand juror should be pecuniarily interested in a contract which he has a voice in granting?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I am informed by the secretary to the grand jury that the gentleman named in the Question is not in any way pecuniarily interested in road or other contracts in the county of Leitrim, the expenses of which are payable out of county cess. The reply to the second paragraph is in the negative.
