HC Deb 05 August 1897 vol 52 cc413-4
SIR E. ASHMEAD-BARTLETT

asked whether it would be in order to raise the question connected with the reply given by the First Lord of the Admiralty as to the refusal of the Admirals to allow the Turkish Fleet to enter Canea Bay—[Nationalist cheers]—on the appropriation of the salary of the First Lord of the Admiralty, or on the salary of the Foreign Secretary in Committee on the Appropriation Bill?

* MR. SPEAKER

That is a matter that could be raised on the Third Reading of the Appropriation Bill; it could not be raised in Committee.

* MR. WEIR

asked whether it would be competent to raise the question of securing cruisers to protect the interest of the lines of fishermen?

* MR. SPEAKER

said that question would be dealt with when it arose.
