§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURYmoved the Second Reading of this Bill.
§ MR. DILLONasked for some explanation of the Measure.
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURremarked that the object of the Bill was explained in a short memorandum which had been issued. A private Act was passed last Session extending the boundaries of Belfast, which extension would take effect from November next, and in consequence it would be necessary to increase the police force of Belfast. The object of the Bill was merely to remove the limits on the force imposed by the Act of 1865.
§ DR. TANNERthought they should have time to look into the matter, and, seeing that the right hon. Gentleman had been met in Committee of Supply, he would suggest that the First Lord of the Treasury should postpone the Second Reading of the Bill till the following day.
