HC Deb 12 April 1897 vol 48 c941
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is yet in a position to say why James Donohue has refused to give possession of the cottage and land provided by the Kildysart, Board of Guardians fur a labourer named Thomas Ayers?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

The difficulty in this case arose from the tact that Mr. Donohue desired to utilise the material of the old house in which Ayers lived in order to fence in the plot on which the new cottage was being erected, but Avers refused lo give up possession. The Guardians have ordered that, unless the new cottage was completed by the 9th instant, proceedings were to be taken against the contractor and his sureties.
