HC Deb 12 April 1897 vol 48 c950
MR. JOHN DILLON (Mayo, E.)

I beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether a Supplementary Estimate will be submitted to defray the costs of the operations now being carried on in the Island of Crete?

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER

So far as can be at present foreseen there will be no necessity for a Supplementary Estimate to defray the cost of the transport and maintenance of the British contingent in Crete.
