HC Deb 09 April 1897 vol 48 c862
MR. SYDNEY BUXTON (Tower Hamlets, Poplar)

I beg lo ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in view of the fact that, under Article 94 of the General Act of the Brussels Conference 1889–90, it is obligatory that the question of the revision of the import duties on alcoholic liquor in the specified zone should be submitted for revision at the end of the sixth year, whether he can state if there is any likelihood of a fresh conference being speedily summoned to meet?

MR. CURZON

As I said in the Debate on Friday last, the question of summoning a fresh conference is under the consideration of Her Majesty's Government, but it is as yet too early to say whether the project, to which they are themselves favourable, is likely to be realised.
