Mr. JAMES STUART (Shoreditch, Hoxton)

That a Select Committee of Nine Members be appointed, Four to be nominated by the House and Five by the Committee of Selection, to whom all Bills promoted in the present Session by the London Water Companies shall be committed.

That all Petitions presented against the said Bills, within the time limited by the Standing Orders, be referred to the Committee; and that such of the Petitioners as pray to be heard by themselves, their counsel, agents, or witnesses, be heard on their Petitions against the Bills, if they think fit, and counsel heard in support of the said Bills against such Petitions.

That the Committee have power to send for persons, papers, and records.

That Five be the quorum of the Committee.

That it be an Instruction to the Committee to make provision in each of the Bills that, if the undertaking of the Company be purchased within seven years from the passing of the Act by any public body or trustees under statutory authority, the cost of purchase shall not be increased by advantages conferred on the Company by or resulting from the passing of the Act.
