FLOWER (Bradford, W.)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether it has been brought to his notice that cases have occurred in which members of County Councils have borrowed moneys from officials of such County Councils: and whether he will consider the possibility of preventing similar transactions in the future?
§ MR. CHAPLINNo such cases have been brought under my attention, and, assuming that there were such cases, the Local Government Board have no power to interfere, as neither the members nor the officers of County Councils are subject to any jurisdiction of the Local Government Board in such matters.
