I beg to ask the Vice President of the Committee of Council on Education, having regard to the terms of Clauses 3 (page 20, line 3, and lines 38, 39, and 40) and 13 (page 9, lines 24, 25, and 26), is it intended by the Bill that the inspection of schools, with a view to testing their efficiency, shall in future be conducted by the Education Department or by the local Education Authority, or by both, and at whose cost, and out of what funds is such inspection to take place.

The subject is under the consideration of the Committee of Council, but they have not yet arrived at the conclusion that there will be any necessity for disturbing their existing relations to their inspectoral staff.
