HC Deb 23 March 1896 vol 38 cc1614-5
MR. G. LAMBERT (Devon, South Molton)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury, when the Government intends to introduce the Bills, of which notice was given on the first day of the Session, for the Relief of Agricultural Land from Rating and the Amendment of the Law relating to Agricultural Holdings?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

The Bill for the Relief of Agricultural Land from Rating cannot, for obvious reasons, be introduced before the Budget; but I hope that that Bill will be introduced on the same night as the Budget, or immediately afterwards. It will be pressed on as fast as possible after its introduction. I cannot make any statement as to the Agricultural Holdings Bill, for which I do not see any immediate prospect of being able to find parliamentary time.

MR. LAMBERT

Will it be before Easter?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

No, Sir.
