HC Deb 20 March 1896 vol 38 cc1460-1
MR. D. F. GODDARD (Ipswich)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, whether a reprint of the Return contained at the end of the statement of the proceedings of the Commissioners appointed under the Great Seal for the exoneration of Small Livings and Charitable Institutions from the Land Tax can be made, and a similar return be furnished for the year ending 31st December 1895, showing the Livings and other Ecclesiastical Benefices and Charitable Institutions then exonerated with the same information respecting them as that contained in the Return of 1820?

MR. HANBURY

A reprint of the Return of 1820 can be made if desired, but I understand that the Stationery Office has a few copies left still. Under the Act 57 Geo. III. cap. 100 the exoneration of Small Livings and Charitable Institutions from the Land Tax came to an end in 1820, so that no similar Return exists for any subsequent year.
